Sick Day

I've been laying in bed all day with a stuffy nose and it feels like my eyeballs are going to pop out! To try to take my mind off of how terrible I feel, I've been watching daytime TV and surfing the internet. I've been in the Halloween spirit so I went to MarthaStewart.com to check out all her amazing ideas for decorations and costumes. Some of her costume ideas are actually kind of creepy!

Love you, Martha!

Sneaker Shopping

It has been a loooong time since I've even looked at sneakers. I pretty much wear the same Chuck Taylors I've had since high school. Because of my job, I may need a new pair of decent sneakers, seeing that I will be on my feet all day. I had my heart set on a leopard print. I checked Vans and Converse and found nothing I was crazy about. Then I came across Punkrose sneakers, which are sold at Hot Topic and various other online stores. They are inexpensive and super cute! I will most likely be buying these very soon.

Halloween Costume

Its official. I ordered my Halloween costume today so there is no turning back. I had several other ideas...like being the lady from The Birds, or going as Courtney Love (again). In the end, I settled on Columbia from Rocky Horror.

I wont be doing the red wig because my hair is about the same length and wigs are just uncomfortable. Oddly enough, I'm realizing that most people I've told about my costume had no idea who this character was! I suggest renting the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I dare you to not have the Time Warp stuck in your head for the next few days.

Rainy weekend means internet shopping!

Or maybe internet 'window' shopping. I slept in late today and then felt the urge to check out Urban Outfitters website. They always send me catalogs and it probably is one of my favorite stores to buy clothing from. They have really cute stuff out right now for fall and they always have a pretty decent sale section, which is where I'm most likely to buy from. Some of my favorites right now are these:

I could have sworn that I had little black booties like these already that I bought on eBay last year but I can't find them anywhere! They didn't have the side buckle and they were from the 80's. I do I have brown ones though that look almost exactly like these. I'm starting to think the only reason I like cold weather is so I can wear all my boots. Very sad.

One thing I will be buying this weekend though is my Halloween costume!!! More on that later. I am however looking forward to DC tomorrow. Free museums!

What I'm obsessed with right now

My bff, Gideon, and I have driven past Carol's Western Wear by my house several times and always commented on how much we wanted to go in. Well this weekend we finally did. This place was waaaay cooler than I could have imagined. The staff was super friendly, the John Wayne memorabilia was a plenty, and the cowboy boots came in all shades of the rainbow. I had to stop myself from buying a cute pair of aqua boots....after all, I already have 3 pairs of cowboy boots including these beauties:

An awesome birthday gift from my good friend, Tarah. They have been called my 'Ted boots' by several people. Gideon was lucky enough to come across a gorgeous pair of brown cowboy boots on sale for $49! A steal when the rest in the place were $100 and up. Of course we also checked out the ladies western shirts. A favorite of mine for years but sadly I don't have any at the moment that fit. I used to have some really cute ones that I had thrifted throughout the years. The best ones seam to be made by Panhandle Slim. Heres are some nice ones I found:

Wardrobe Remix

My friend, Mary, said 'Why did you stop doing Wardrobe Remix?" So it got me thinking about it again. Last summer I joined Wardrobe Remix and gave myself the project of documenting all my outfits and sharing it with the group to get feedback, see everyone elses style, and to just have something to look back on later for reference. I did have some rules that I tried to follow and these are actually true for my day to day life.

1. Try not to wear the same exact look twice...unless it really was that amazing and you space it out so its not that noticeable. I always try to accessorize differently so it will look like a completely different look.

2. I always wear the colors that I feel look best on me and my skin tone. You will probably never see me in a flesh tone or orange no matter how awesome it looked on the hanger.

3. If a dress or skirt hits me at an awkward spot, like even an inch too long, I'm not afraid to chop it off and hem it. I think that knowing basic sewing skills is pretty important when you love fashion or love wearing vintage. This also means that you should know your measurements! It really comes in handy when you're buying online. Vintage sizes are different and sellers always post the measurements of the garment instead of a size.

Those are just some, but pretty important ones. It was fun to look back on all my old entries and see what I liked and what I didnt like. Here are some favorites:

A book was also published to show some of the looks from the site. Of course I started after the book was already out but it was still fun to look through it and I recognized some of the girls in it.

Good Design

I really hate the oatmeal colored carpet in our condo...the one left covered in stained from our dog, Cooper. I have day dreams about our next residence having amazing hardwood floors or just something with a little more interest. I'm having a major case of flooring envy when I look at these amazing spaces.

Things I'm obsessed with right now

Yesterday I searched ebay and etsy in the hopes of finding some lovely vintage dresses to add to the collection. I prefer vintage over anything else but sometimes I get sucked in to all the new high end designer stuff that I could never in a million years afford, and if I could, not feel guilty for buying it. I went to the mall tonight and did my best Rachel Zoe impression while gasping at the Manolo Blahniks heel and Tory Burch dresses. 'Thats ba-nanas! I'm dying over that!' Its fun to pretend.

Anyway heres what I'm obsessing over right now:

I saw this amazing LAMB bag today and felt like I was cheating on Betsey Johnson.

Pretty much all of the Fall 09' Marc Jacobs collection.

And I think I need to make these Steve Madden oxfords my next purchase.

First order of business...

I've decided to become more 'internet savvy'. I thought Facebook & Etsy were enough, but I've recently created a Twitter account and now this. I wanted to have an extra outlet to share things I'm obsessed with...there are thousands of them, and to have a place to make note of all the cool things I find on the web. So here it goes.

While flipping through Nylon at work the other day, I came across this gem.

Amazing for soooo many reasons. First of all at first glance its extremely cute, yes, but look again...there are tiny images of Courtney Love from back in the day all over it! Apparently she teamed up with Hysteric Glamour to create this masterpiece, however I can't find it anywhere to purchase and I fear that if I did find it, the cost would be outrageous. It is no secret that I have been in love with Courtney since who knows when and lately I've been having combat boot, baby doll dress moments and I kind of wish it was '94 again. I would like to relive that and somehow not be only 10 years old. Speaking of this, I picked up this awesome book at work the other day and I've been raving about it ever since.

Its pretty much just photos, but its fun to look at. I think I used to have some of them taped to my walls.
